The horizon trembling, shapeless. We are all of us brothers.

In The Year 2000

Of course the title is simply an excuse to use a picture of a much-loved Conan character. This is, though, about the future.

First, a bit about this blog. I must apologize for the seemingly incessant changes. I’ve been tinkering with HTML and CSS and know just enough to want to play around (most often creating minor catastrophes, blog-wise) inside the themes. The tinkering then leaves me wondering what I can play around with inside another theme.  Please do forgive the changes–they’ll surely settle down eventually.

To go with my HTML/CSS tinkering, I have been testing various platforms (WPMU, wikis, etc.) for use in the classroom. It’s quite possible that these tests may render this site unreadable at times, but let’s don’t hope for that. Of course, talk of the classroom leads me to another piece of news, so here goes.

In the year twenty-ten I will finally get to teach and work in my chosen field. At the end of July, we will be moving back to Arkansas where my wife will be teaching in a new-but-similar school and I will be working as an adjunct professor teaching Comp 1 and Basic English. I can only imagine that this blog will take on a more pedagogical bent since the act of teaching will be taking up much of my time and energy.

In the mean time, I’m spending probably far too much time at ProfHacker in semi-preparation/semi-procrastination for next semester. The site is maintained by brilliant scholars who are dedicated to their teaching and are willing to share their experiences and insight.

Though there is much to love and miss about Pennsylvania, I am looking forward to the change. There’s something to be said about moving on and it’s about time to do so.
